ABOUT US

It all started with an unexpected phonecall...

It was my old-time friend asking, if I could help to find a good new home for a small purebred dog.

At that time there were two american cockerspaniels living in my home and I didn't even dream about another dog. As I asked about the breed of the dog, I was surprised to find out that it was a silky terrier.

I asked my friend, a breeder of boxers, to describe the dog and she abruptly told me that it looked like bottle brush. I promised to call her back and started to dig through all the "dog breed"books I had at home. Luckily I found that I was looking for.

The correct name of the breed was Australian silky terrier. I got very excited. The breed looked very much like a Yorkshire terrier. I had seen that fabulous dog at a dog show many years ago and I was enchanted at once. At that time this breed could only be seen at big international dog shows and all the owners were so bigheaded and unapproachable, that I went home to my cockers with no hope at all.

And suddenly, what a success( not a yorkie, but very similar though)! I called back and we decided to take this little dog to my mother at first.

That's how a three year old Jerry(Fayhill Jerry for long) came to live with us. Jerry comes from a very famous Finnish kennel "Fayhill", what is the first silky terrier kennel in that country. The owners of that kennel are Iris and Kurt Gerlin. Their first silky terriers came from Sweden in 1972 from kennel "Västerbackens" and the first litter was born in 1973. Since that time silky terriers have become very popular in Finland. The best representatives of the breed were brought to Finland from Australia, Austria, America, Sweden, France and Germany. Later Finnish dogs were exported to Europe and to USA were they became quite successfull in the showrings.

But Jerry was not a good specimen of his breed. He was sold to be a house pet and I became sure of it very soon. The first and last attempt to show him at a dog show, was a failure, to put it mildly. And a disaster to be honest. Jerry bit the judge and we were sent away with a note about his temper. We were very ashamed and unhappy. But there was no turning back. Jerry had stolen my heart. Pride, intelligence, wild personality, shrewdness and the fantastic, silvery-blue silky hair. My dream of a yorkie was instantly replaced by a silkie. Diligently I started to look for more info on that breed and instantly I was facing serious troubel. I didn't have a computer back then and nobody in Estonia or Russia was interested in that breed. Piece by piece I gathered all the info I could find. Based on the info from show cataloques, I made up a file on all the best dogs and kennels and in less than a year I knew all the pedigrees of the most famous silkies by heart.

Enchanted by the breed, I turned to the owner of Jerry in Finland, to ask her to help me find a good show dog.She turned out to be a very sociable person. From that moment my friendship with Albina Alanen started and has been going on for almost 10 years now. I want to express my sincere respect and gratitude to her. It would never have been possible to get the best dogs for my kennel without her help. She has been my helper and co-owner of the kennel since 1993.

In 1994 from kennel "Fayhill" in Finland, I got a puppy that met every requirement for the breed. Fayhill Rita, Shelly to us, became the foundation bitch for silky terriers in Estonia. Thank you Kurt and Iris!

Shelly became a champion before she was two years old.

Her first litter with a Finnish male, CH Bombix Moren Bactrim-Maxi, was born in 1995. By that time a kennel named "Magic Show" was registered and the owners to this day are we: Natalja Mamedova and Albina Alanen.

Slowly I gathered the know-how. When Albina suggested on buying two new puppies, I accepted. So in december 1995 from a famous Finnish kennel "Bombix Moren"(owner Irma Leino) came two four-months old puppies: male  Bombix Moren Royal Smile and female Bombix Moren Matkaleena. .

We are very proud to have Irma for our friend, she is a famous silky terrier breeder and a truly wonderful person. Her silkies are excellent. I consider her to be my mentor and a good friend. Irma has helped our kennel to start from a solid base. Bombix is our best show and breeding dog. He is the father of many champions from our kennel. Bombix is retired from the show ring but can sometimes be seen in the veteran class.

In ten years we have bred 8 litters. It may seem not much for some of you, but we are not after the great numbers. All of our puppies are in loving and caring homes.
Specially chosen, important for our future breeding , puppies have participated successfully in shows and have aquired the Champion titles.

Since 2002 we can carry on our breeding program with bitces that carry our kennel name "Magic Show". These dogs are CH Magic Show Christmas Sweet, CH Magic Show Valentina and  CH Magic Show Sweet Sweet.

Recently I got a royal gift from kennel "Bombix Moren" - a four month old silky boy Bombix Moren Amron’s TopCopy, the offspring of American and European champions. On his first show, less than 6 months old, our Topyi got BIS 2. I'm sure that a great show career is waiting for him. Thank you so much, Irma!

Thank you so much for that marvellous dog, dear Saija. It is just pure luck and a true happiness to have a chihuahua, that is a true image of the breed standard, in my kennel. our success is not so very great yet, but it will be achieved.

Our moto is : true love + hard work = the best representative of the breed.
