Chihuahua - briefly about the breed


Briefly, because there are so many books written, good words said and colourful stories told about this wonderful breed. I'm afraid, I can't add anything new.

I like the expression of a Moscow breeder of chihuahuas, ms.Natalja Svirkina (kennel Nasvit). In the introduction to her book "Chihuahua - my love" she writes the lovely words:

"The magic of chihuahua is that all of its traits are superlative"

• The smallest - there is no smaller breed in the whole wide world

• The oldest - the history of the breed dates back thousands of years, to Old - India and to the mystery of the Egyptian pyramides.

• The most constant - time has not changed neither its appearance nor character.

• The most resistant - after losing touch with humans during the war in South America with the Spaniards( 16-th century), the breed managed to survive in the hostile jungle environment for 300 years without any help from the humans, proving to be able to live and prosper without any human help and support.

• The most mysterious - there is a mole on the head of a chihuahua, that stays unchanged for the whole life of the dog. There is no need for it to be there, but still, there it is.
  
  Up to this day scientists have found no need or meaning for that mole, so it will stay as a mystery of nature. This "sign of destiny" has given base to a serious hypothesis that chihuahuas are not from this planet.
